Woke up to a gloriously clear, sunny, cost and frosty day. Absolutely perfect weather! For months now I’ve been meaning to go to Newlands Corner, where a nice sounding cafe boasted amazing views, and Google maps assured me there was almost certainly probably a straight forward walk to be had in the process of getting there… none of which proved to be true, but it was a wonderful walk all the same!
- It was too cold to keep stopping for photographs, but much of the ground was covered with a beautiful, heavy frost. Always looks so magical!
- Frosty leaf… there were so many photos I wanted to take. Especially when we came across a patch of bracken all coated in frost.
- Very lovely hills they are too! Just wish they were more accessible to walkers… seems barmy to have concluded next time we’d take the car!
- Whilst the cafe itself didn’t seem to have any particular view to speak of, across the road was absolutely breathtaking. Well worth the hike!
- Must find out the name of this village… Had a perfect picture postcard look to it from the top of the hill, though.
- Card rides! Must admit, I was sorely tempted, but we had yet to find lunch and it was bitterly cold.
- Always had a thing about shire horses, though. Beautiful creatures.
- Because the road was so dangerous for walkers, we ended up taking a sizable detour through the golf course. Which actually turned out rather nicely, with pretty paths like this, and far more peaceful.
- Because the cafe was so unappealing, we stopped for lunch at a local pub instead on the way home. Can’t begin to describe how welcome this crackling log fire was… not to mention the roast beef and a mug of mulled cider!

Looks like a lovely way to spend a day!
